There are 3 different types of cables that can be used with 3Dio microphones. You can purchase all of these cables here.
3.5mm to 3.5mm M2M TRS
This cable is compatible with the FS, FS XLR & FS Pro II models. It is an unbalanced, stereo cable. When using this cable, the 9V battery inside the microphone must be utilized to power the capsules and therefore the 3Dio power switch must be in the ON position.
We recommended this cable for connecting the FS, FS XLR & FS Pro II to digital recorders & consumer DSLR cameras. The shorter the cable, the better. If the cable is long, it may be more susceptible to picking up RFI (Radio Frequency Interference).
3.5mm to Dual 1/4" Stereo Splitter Cable
This cable is compatible with the FS, FS XLR & FS Pro II models. It is an unbalanced, stereo splitter cable that breaks out the left and right channels into separate connectors. When using this cable, the 9V battery inside the microphone must be utilized to power the capsules and therefore the 3Dio power switch must be in the ON position.
We recommended this cable for connecting the 3Dio FS microphone to audio interfaces & mixing consoles. Just like the 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable, the shorter, the better. If the cable is long, it may be more susceptible to picking up RFI (Radio Frequency Interference).
XLR Cable
This cable is compatible with the FS XLR & FS Pro II models. It is a balanced mono cable used in most professional settings, provides a high quality audio signal and is shielded to protect against RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) and other noise that may leak into the audio signal. These cables can be long (up to 100' without any signal loss). There are two (2) XLR outputs on the FS XLR & FS Pro II models, one for each ear.
We recommend these cables for connecting the FS XLR & FS Pro II models to audio interfaces & mixing consoles.
