What is the difference between the Free Space models?
The Free Space model features Primo EM172 microphone capsules and a frequency response range of 100 - 10 kHz. The Free Space XLR model also features Primo EM172 capsules. The Free Space Pro II model features DPA 4060 Hi-Sensitivity microphone capsules and a frequency response range of 20 - 20 kHz. The Free Space Pro II also has a higher S/N ratio than the Free Space XLR. All models come standard with an 1/8” stereo output jack. The Free Space XLR and Pro II models feature two female XLR output jacks.

What do you recommend for recording using an iPhone or iPad?
Recording with the 3Dio microphone on an iOS device requires an audio interface that will act as a pre-amp for the mic by boosting the signal and record in stereo.
We recommend the IK Multimedia iRig Pro Duo. It comes with compatible cables to plug into your Mac, iOS, or Android device. It also comes with app software to record onto your mobile device.

Can I plug my 3Dio microphone directly into my computer?
No. Like most microphones, all 3Dio microphones require a pre amp to boost the audio signal coming from the 3Dio. Plugging the 3Dio directly into a computer will result in a very quiet to inaudible signal. We recommend a portable digital recording device or audio interface that will boost the signal to line level.

VAT and customs duties vary from country to country. We recommend you visit the following website to find out what you can expect to pay in VAT:
3Dio does not collect VAT. Our primary international shipping carrier, DHL will pay for VAT on your behalf and then send you an invoice for the VAT and/or customs duties after delivering your package.

Do you offer an educational discount?
Yes, we offer a 7% discount for educational purposes on a case-by-case basis. We simply require proof of enrollment or employment via an educational institute issued email address or proof of a valid student ID card. Do you offer an active military or military veterans discount?
Yes, similar to our educational discount, we offer a 7% discount for active military personnel, reservists, retired and disabled veterans of the US armed forces.
