3Dio FS Picking Up Radio Interference During Recording

  • Hello,

Since I received my 3Dio FS, I have used it successfully three times without any issues. However, the fourth time I tried to use it, I started experiencing audio interference, and when I began recording, I could actually hear a radio station coming through the microphone.

During the first three sessions, everything worked perfectly. I connected the 3Dio to my Tascam DR-07X using a 3.5 mm cable that I purchased, so I initially thought the cable was the problem. I bought a new, higher-quality cable, but the exact same issue continued: radio interference.

Then I watched this video on the 3Dio YouTube channel about connecting the 3Dio to an audio interface:

Following that recommendation, I purchased a Behringer U-PHORIA UMC204HD so that I could use the original cable that came with the 3Dio. However, I am experiencing the exact same issue when connecting through the audio interface. As soon as I start recording, I can hear a radio station through the microphone.

How can I solve this problem? I really don't know what to do. Everything was fine at the beginning—I made three recordings with the Tascam and the microphone worked perfectly—but now this issue is happening consistently.

    Could you please help me?

    Thank you very much.

  • Hi @Amanda Matte,

Thank you for reaching out to us. I'm sorry to hear you're picking up a radio signal when you're using the microphone.

Usually, the interference you're experiencing is due to the environment or some other electronic equipment nearby.

Have you tried recording with the Tascam in a different room? Or outdoors away from electronics? Is the Tascam plugged into a wall adapter or operating on battery power? Is there a mobile phone nearby?

Try taking the microphone and recorder to a location away from other electronic devices to see if that fixes the issue. Sometimes this happens because of grounding issues with power supply cables and cords.

Let us know if that doesn't fix the issue and we can continue troubleshooting.

    Best regards,

    ~Brian
