Random Intermittent Static

  • Hello,

I recently purchased a 3dio FS microphone and I use the Scarlette Focusrite audio interface. After about 5 uses with extremely cautious care, I began to hear this odd static sound in the audio, coming from no particular ear.  I used different platforms to record this from and tried unplugging all of my gear and plugging it back it; it all ends up with the same problem.  I attached an unlisted youtube video of what the noise sounds like as I made random noises from ear to ear.

What can I do to fix this? I am always careful not to leave the power switch on when it is not in use, so it can't be the battery.  I play around with the buttons in the interface to see if it will help, and nothing seems to work. I spent a large percentage of my savings to buy this item, I didn't think it would have issues this fast.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

  • Hi @Sofia Perez,

Thank you for your post. I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your mic.

Also, thank you for the video. That is very helpful.

It sounds like it’s time to change the battery inside the microphone. There is a 9V battery inside the mic that is used to power the capsules. When the microphone’s power switch is in the ON position, the battery is powering the capsules and the 3.5mm output signal.

Here’s a quick video tutorial for changing the battery: https://youtu.be/7wF1YtdqUV8

When the microphone is not in use, we recommend keeping the power switch in the OFF position to preserve the battery life.

Let us know if you’re still having an issue with the mic after replacing the battery and I’d be happy to help further troubleshoot.

    Best regards,
    ~Brian
