How does panning work with the Free Space XLR Binaural Microphone + phantom power

  • Hi, waiting on my 3Dio. I'll be using the ZOOM H6 as the audio interface. Does the 3Dio and ZOOM H6 naturally record left and right audio or do i have to pan left and right audio in a daw post recording?

Also how many volts do i use for phantom power?

    12

    24

    48?

    Hi @John ,

    Thank you for your questions.

By default, the channels on the Zoom H6 will be centered. You must update the individual channel settings to pan them left and right, accordingly. You can also pair tracks together making them pan left and right as well as lock them together with respect to volume levels.

If you do not pan them in the Zoom H6, you can always do it in post. However, if you're monitoring through the Zoom H6 in realtime during a recording, then we recommend adjusting the panning settings so you hear full binaural audio.

The microphones accepts 12, 24 or 48V phantom power. We always recommend 48V, but it should be compatible with either.

I hope this info helps. Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Best regards,
    ~Brian
