Hi! I'm at my wits end trying to figure out what is going on with my microphone. Please help.
I was using the XLR with 48v phantom power turned off, because I upgraded from a 3DIO FS and didn't realize I needed to turn that on for it to sound a lot better and not need to boost the gain so much. However, I've occaisionally been getting this really high pitched noise coming in and out since switching phantom power on. I tried brand new XLR cables because I thought that may be the issue, I also tried plugging the audio interface into a different PC to see if it was an issue with my PC but the issue persisted. I tried unplugging all my electronics, tried without headphones to see if it was some kind of interference but the issue persisted. Please let me know what else I can do, or if it's an internal mic issue if I can get a replacement mic. Thank you so much.

Do you hear the same high pitch noise when using the 3.5mm TRS output? or only using the XLR outputs?

I do not hear the noise when using the 3.5mm TRS outputs, but the input is incredibly quiet and muffled and I can't record like this. I tried phantom power both on or off. Let me know if there's any other info I can provide!

Thank you for the clip. That is very helpful.
That sounds like there is a mobile phone near the microphone. The sound is most likely your phone sending or receiving data. If it is near the mic or the cables or the interface, the transmission may be picked up by these devices and bleed into the signal. Try putting your phone into airplane mode while recording to see if that solves the problem.

Hi Brian, thank you so much for the response. I tried putting my phone in airplane mode and making sure any other wireless devices are not close, but still heard the high pitched sound. I've also tried a new audio interface cable to see if that was the issue, and I tried putting foil over the mic/interface/cables just to see if it would temporarily help at all but it didn't :( I'm afraid if it could be something internally wrong with this microphone, or something wrong with the audio interface. I noticed when I move the XLR cables around, sometimes it makes the noise better/worse. I'm using brand new XLR cables though, and it happened with my old pair too. I'm so confused!

Thank you for giving that a try. Just to make sure were talking about the same thing, the high pitch noise you're hearing is intermittent and not continuous, correct? We only heard an intermittent sound of data transmission bleeding into the signal and not a continuous high pitch noise.
